Our Negative and Slide Scanning Services Cupar
Negative Film Scanning is a dedicated website for negative scanning services for G.H.S Media, we have been offering our services in Cupar for nearly two decades. We offer scanning services for most types of negatives, slide (transparency) glass plates and photographs, we use dedicated photo scanners designed for scanning negatives and slides.
The scanners we use are Canon Scan FS2710, Sony UY-S100 and Epson V850 Pro, we use Silverfast Ai Studio software in conjunction with our Epson and Canon scanners which allows us to colour calibrate the scanners to offer the best scans possible from your negatives and slides.
The Sony scanner has dedicated software to get the best image quality from your film, the Sony UY-S100 can also scan a full roll of negatives in one go so can handle uncut rolls of negatives or ones that have been cut into large strips.
We can also arrange to have your old film developed and processed to give you digital scans or prints made from the negatives. We can have 
your 110, 126, 127, 120, 35mm and APS films developed. As well as C41 colour film processing we also offer black and white developing and E6 slide developing and mounting.
We also offer a photo restoration service which also includes colourisation. If you have an old photo that has been damaged or you would like a black and white photo turned into a colour one then we can help with this.
110 Negatives
We can transfer and scan your 110 negatives at a minimum resolution of up to 4000dpi which provides equivalent to around a 12”x8” print. We scan 110 negatives using an Epson V850 pro scanner using a specially made negative adaptor.
Once we have scanned your 110 negs we can save them in a file format of your choice, popular choices include PSD, TIFF or JPG. We use silverfast professional scanning software to ensure the colour on the scanner is fully calibrated in order to get the best from your negatives.
126 Negatives and Slides
We can transfer and scan your 126 negatives and slides which are also known as transparencies at a minimum resolution of 4000dpi which provides equivalent to around a 10”x10” print. We use an Epson V850 pro scanner used with a dedicated custom-made negative adaptor.
Once we have scanned your 126 negs we can save them in the file format of your choice, popular options are PSD, TIFF or JPG. We use SilverFast professional scanning software to ensure the colour on the scanner is fully calibrated in order to get the best from your negatives.
127 Negatives
We can transfer and scan your 127 negatives at a minimum resolution of 4000dpi providing an equivalent to around a 12”x12” print. We use an Epson V850 pro with dedicated neg adaptors to scan your 127 formats.
Once we have scanned your 127 negs we can save them in a file format of your choice, popular choices include PSD, TIFF or JPG. We use SilverFast professional scanning software to ensure the colour on the scanner is fully calibrated in order to get the best from your negatives and slides.
Kodak Disc Negatives
We can transfer and scan your Kodak Disc negatives at a minimum resolution of 4000dpi which provides equivalent to a 6”x8” print. We use an Epson V850 pro and a dedicated neg adaptor to scan your Kodak Disc negs however, please be aware that Kodak Disc negatives are small so don’t offer great quality when scanned due to the size.
Once we have scanned your Kodak Disc negs we can save them in the file format of your choice, popular options are PSD, TIFF or JPG. We use SilverFast professional scanning software to ensure the colour on the scanner is fully calibrated in order to get the best from your negatives.
Medium format Negatives and Slides (120 and 220)
We can transfer and scan your 120 and 220 negatives and slides which are also known as transparencies at a minimum resolution of 4000dpi providing an equivalent to around a 16”x16” print. We use an Epson V850 pro with dedicated neg adaptors to scan your 120 and 220 formats.
Once we have scanned your 120 and 220 negs we can save them in a file format of your choice, popular choices include PSD, TIFF or JPG. We use SilverFast professional scanning software to ensure the colour on the scanner is fully calibrated in order to get the best from your negatives and slides.
35mm Negatives and Slides
For 35mm negative and slide scanning we offer a few choices, we have two scanners that can scan 35mm film formats The Sony UY-S100 can scan at a resolution of 3072dpi but can scan full strips of up to 36 exposures in one go meaning we can offer a slightly cheaper service that still offers high-quality scans.
Like the other formats, we can also use the Epson 850 pro to scan your 35mm negs and slides at a resolution from 4000dpi, although the Epson only scans 35mm formats signally and costs a little more it does offer better colour correction using the Silverfast software which also calibrates the scanner the better colour accuracy.
APS (Advanced Photo System) Negatives
For APS negative scanning we use the Canon FS2720 film scanner which allows us to scan your film without the need of removing it from the spool.
We can scan your APS film at a resolution of 1,766 X 3,212, we scan the full negative however we can crop the image to produce the three different aspect ratios that APS offered. Like Kodak Disc negatives APS film is small so doesn’t offer great quality due to the size.
Glass Plates and Glass Mounted Slides
Using the Epson 850 pro we can scan negative and slide glass plates up to A4 in size, quality of our glass plate scanning will depend on the condition of your plates however, overall offer high quality. The final image size of the scan will depend on the size of your glass plate. As well as glass plates we are also able to scan 126 and 35mm glass-mounted slides.
Film processing and Developing
We can process and develop the following types of films 110, 126, 127, 120 medium formats, 35mm and APS. As well as C41 colour negative, we can also do black and white processing along with E6 slide processing. Once your film has been developed, we can give you digital files and/or photos, if choosing photos, we can print from 6”x4” to 12”x18”. These print sizes are based on 35mm film, for other types of film such as medium format, your 4”x6” prints will be 4”x4” due to the aspect ratio of the negative.
Photo Restoration and Colourisation
We can scan your old damaged photographs and digitally restore them to their formal glory, repair includes marks rips & tears or ink and pen marks to name a few common things that damage old photographs. Over time the colour can fade which we can also repair as well as turn black and white or sepia tone photos into colour.
